How did Addenda® originate?
Addenda® was founded in 2007 with the aim of achieving better results together. As one of the first growers’ associations in the Netherlands, Addenda® has a wide assortment of Campanula and Hebe. The association now counts 16 members in the Netherlands and Belgium.
What does Addenda® grow?
Addenda®’s assortment consists of Campanula and Hebe: strong plants suitable for gardens, terraces, and balconies. What characterises all these products is the consistent, high quality for which Addenda® is known.
Where do the young plants come from and how does the cultivation process of Hebe proceed?
The mother plants of Hebe Addenda® are located in Africa. Cuttings are taken from these plants, which are rooted in the Netherlands and then delivered to the associated growers. Addenda® ensures that only cuttings of the correct quality are supplied.
The young plants are potted in various pot sizes. They are then further cultivated until they have sufficient volume and can be placed at the final location. Afterwards, they grow calmly until the characteristic, colourful flower plumes appear.
The cultivation period of a Hebe Addenda® depends on the variety and the weather; the plant is not easy to control when it comes to flowering. Usually, the first Hebes begin to flower in the week of 21 June, and then the first customers can be pleased with this beautiful product.

What does Addenda® do regarding sustainability?
Addenda® continuously works on reducing its environmental impact. By monitoring and analysing the entire life cycle of the plant, they strive for the most sustainable cultivation possible. New varieties are selected based on growth vigour, resilience, and climate resistance.
Campanula and Hebe are mainly grown outdoors or in cold greenhouses, which greatly limits energy consumption. Packaging is also as sustainable as possible: labels are biodegradable, pots are made from 100% recycled plastic, tray collars from FSC-certified paper, and transport trays are reused where possible.
Addenda® structurally reduces the use of plant protection products throughout the entire chain. Independent residue analyses monitor usage among growers and cutting suppliers, while natural control methods are the norm where possible.
Addenda® follows the guidelines of Ambition 5.0 Crop Protection, an initiative of Tuinbranche Nederland, CLM, and the Nature & Environment Foundation. With this, Addenda® consciously chooses a beyond-legal approach, aimed at cleaner cultivation, a transparent chain, and healthy plants for people, animals, and the environment.
